Canine Identification- collar tag, tattoo and microchip information. Something not included: The AKC ($35) and UKC ($49) dna profile- originally designed for breeding dogs in order to verify parentage. If your lost dog is found the finders can not easily "run" the dog's dna to see who owns it. However for about $45 you can easily have the AKC profile your dog's dna. Then if you find your dog another $45 profile can help you identify it and your name on the registration can help you prove ownership. Collars with tags can be lost or removed, tattoos can be altered and removed, microchips can be removed- dna can not be changed. Every puppy born in a litter will have its own individual dna profile.
