Ranch Pyr Sample Contract
_________________________ hereinafter referred to as buyer. Desert Kennels hereinafter referred to as DK. The canine described
in this contract hereinafter referred to as puppy or pup or dog or canine.
ABSOLUTELY NO $$ REFUNDS OF DEPOSITS OR PURCHASE PRICES
DK may apply deposits/purchase prices to future puppies if they are not applied to this puppy.
DK will never be liable for more than the purchase price of this dog.
DK may exchange puppies/dogs for another Desert Kennels dog or puppy if the original in this contract is returned.
No $$ refunds will be given.________
______ DK will not pay for any expenses relating to this or any other canine after it leaves DK premises. Transportation, any
testing, medical costs, training costs, grooming costs, liability/legal costs, daily and routine care costs, paperwork, etc. are
the choice and responsibility of the buyer.
______Health Record: DK usually administers vaccines, worming medicines, etc. at the kennel, not at a veterinarian's office.
The effectiveness the vaccines, wormers, drugs, etc. can not be guaranteed.
______Health: If you have this puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of acquisition and the vet determines it is unhealthy DK may exchange it for the next available puppy of equal value. The unhealthy puppy must be returned within 48 hours of
the diagnosis if DK is to have any hope of treating it successfully. All items and paperwork received included with the puppy must be
returned with it. Return/transportation costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Please keep this in mind if you live a fair distance away.
Note the stress and unpredictability of airline shipping void the 3 day health guarantee. But I do still recommend a vet check within 72 hours to make sure your puppy flew OK. I can not guarantee temperatures, baggage handling, air pressures, scheduling issues, mechanical breakdowns, human mistakes, etc. that I have no control over.
Each flying puppy will have a veterinary health inspection and certificate so that it can legally board the plane.
_______ IF you choose not to exchange an unhealthy puppy you do so at your own risk. DK will not in any way be responsible
or liable (financially or otherwise) for your choice. IF you choose not to exchange a dog that is eligible for exchange in this contract
or a dog that DK offers to exchange for any other reason you do so at your own risk. DK will not in any way be responsible or liable (financially or otherwise) for your choice.
_______Airline Shipping: Can be stressful. DK can not guarantee a puppy's health when it is transported on an airline. Airlines require a
new health certificate from a veterinarian to accompany any puppy. If the puppy falls ill during or after airline transport it will not be
allowed to fly on an airline while it is sick, thus it usually can not be returned on an airline in a timely manner. All airline shipping is
at the risk of the buyer. Puppy's intended purpose must be chosen below so I can continue to offer airline shipping to the families
that need it.
Puppy's intended purpose: ____breeding stock ____security (family, farm, ranch, livestock, personal)
____other_______________________________________________________________________________________
______Diet affects health: DK will not be responsible in any way for any health, developmental or emotional problems if any of the following diets are fed because we have seen these adversely affect a number of dogs: Ol' Roy and similarly priced store brands, Purina Beneful, Kibbles N Bits, Twin Pet, semi moist burger type foods and: any diet whose 1st ingredient is grain or grain based (this
includes wet/canned diets whose 1st ingredient is water and the 2nd is grain or grain based.) I invite you to visit the
Dog Food Advisor.com and the Truth About Pet Food.com websites to learn more. Dysplasia Note: raising a Pyrenees, Collie,
Doberman or any dog that will mature over 50 pounds on an "all breed puppy food" or a "small/medium breed puppy food"
MAY INCREASE DYSPLASIA.
DIET RECOMMENDATION for growing Large Breed Puppies and reducing bloat: add 1000 mg of vitamin ester C to the large breed puppies' daily diet since several studies suggest it helps reduce lameness and dysplasia. Allow your growing puppy access to a quality dry large breed puppy diet 24 or 12 hours a day or feed two to three times a day. 12 hours a day example: access to dry food morning to evening, evening to morning or midnight to noon, etc that will fit into your household's schedule. don't suddenly change the schedule or you will
risk a bloat incident (bloat is usually fatal!) Wet/canned food is a great addition to dry food daily.
PLEASE visit the Dog Food Advisor.com to see how much nutrition you can afford in your area.
Diet Note: Large Breed Puppy formulas that DK has had good luck with: NutriSource, Diamond Naturals, Purina Pro Plan and Purina One. Recommended body mass index: try to maintain a body score of 4 on a canine scale of 9. If your Pyr puppy develops growing pains (lameness that moves from one leg to another) your puppy is growing too fast, on the wrong diet, or not at the right weight.
______ The buyer understands that if this puppy is not picked up by ___________ (11 weeks old) there will be a $ _______boarding fee per week until ____________ (usually 14 weeks old) then the buyer forfeits all monies paid to date for this puppy since DK will have to find another home for it.
Your Puppy's FUTURE:
I recommend feeding a Large Breed Puppy Formula or mix of Large Breed Puppy Formulas from 8 weeks to 24 months of age. Desert Kennels has used the following with good results: Diamond Naturals, Purina One, Nutri Source, Exclusive, Purina Pro Plan, Iams, Loyall Life. Putting the puppy on an "Adult Maintenance" diet from 6 months to adulthood may also be an economical option to a Large Breed Puppy diet according to some internet articles. I have not tried to raise puppies on an adult maintenance diet yet.
At Desert Kennels:
I raise my large breed puppies on Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy Lamb and Rice formula with a chicken or poultry based Large Breed Puppy food , a bit of canned food for flavor, 1 teaspoon of fossil flour and the ester C vitamin mixed in with water to make a gravy. Regular wormings and vaccinations. This gives my growing puppies a mix of protein sources daily, vitamin C to help develop good hip cartilage, and a daily natural/gentle wormer (the fossil flour). I try to keep my adult dogs on a mix of protein sources, ester C and fossil flour every day for life. I have been very pleased with the results this diet has given my dogs. Please see my Dog Diets Page, the Dog Food Advisor.com and the Truth About Pet Foods.com websites for more information.
